Farm Birthday Cake
I absolutely love making birthday cakes! I especially love making birthday cakes for children. The smiles they give make every bit of the effort worth it! This little man is a sweet neighbor of mine and I hear they had a petting zoo and everything at this shindig…how great is that??
This cake was so much fun to make. I say that about every cake huh….but its true! I started with red velvet marble cakes. The bottom tier is 10″ and the top is 6″. I whipped up the batter and added it to the pan 1/4 cup at a time alternating between red and white. When the pans were full I swirled the batter around with a knife and voilà. The marble effect……..
By the way….the magical product I use to keep cakes from sticking to the pans is called Baker’s Joy. Incredible stuff and I never have to worry about making the effort and having the cakes stick…love it!
I made crusting cream cheese frosting to top it all off. Cute huh?
I have learned to love making cookies as of late. Not that I didn’t love them before but with so much practice they have gotten “easier”. So many people want matching cookies with their cakes and I totally think they just make the cake table so much cuter. Thanks for the pictures Tara!
Iced sugar cookies are such temperamental things and I have a love/hate relationship with them but I think these turned out so great! I got the cookies cutters from Amazon here and they were perfect.
It takes a couple of days to completely finish cookies but so worth the effort. The barn I hand cut… I mean how hard could a barn shape be right?? And of course I forgot to make it when I was making the other cookies so yeah, there was a fan involved in the drying of that one 🙂
